Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success.

Come and be a part of this success.

About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Water Planning, this is a critical, operations-facing role where you will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective mine water management plans and working closely with operational teams to translate these into executable work. You will then track dewatering and water distribution system performance to meet mining and regulatory commitments.

The position is located at BHPs Yandi iron ore mine where successful mine water management involves a combination of maintaining mature dewatering operations, meeting operational and environmental requirements, and working to support progressive execution of the mine closure plan.

BHP has adopted Water Stewardship as a global company priority. As a member of the Water Planning team, you will play a key role in enabling world-class water management practices that align with the stewardship position.

This position is based at BHP Yandi mine site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on a 5/2 4/3 Days only FIFO roster.

In this role you will:

- Develop and maintain effective Mine Dewatering and Water Distribution plans.
- Develop detailed hydrogeological conceptual models and use these as the basis for dewatering system design, site water balance models and environmental approval inputs.
- Design and install effective groundwater monitoring networks and analyse the data to develop the hydrogeological conceptual model and track dewatering performance and compliance to environmental approval commitments.
- Review Mine Plans and use them to develop operational dewatering targets, workload forecasts, and infrastructure and budget requirements.
- Work closely with dewatering, mining, environment, and mine closure teams to ensure the water management system meets all operational requirements.
- Represent and clearly communicate water management requirements and risks at weekly meetings and in site leadership forums.
- Conduct ongoing performance review and optimisation of dewatering and water management infrastructure - including dewatering and injection bores, and pipeline hydraulics.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess:

- A tertiary qualification in Hydrogeology, Geoscience, Engineering or Environmental Science, with post graduate study/qualifications in Hydrogeology (or related discipline) highly regarded.
- Solid hydrogeological skills and experience, with the ability to quickly grasp technical problems, business requirements and design appropriate work programs.
- Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to influence without authority across multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical concepts to non-technical and leadership audiences.
- The passion, determination and energy to inspire those around you to maintain BHP's position as a World Leader in Mine Water Management.

About Our Process

At BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role. As
