The key duties of the position include:
The Position
The Executive Manager, Finance, International, Audit & Governance (FIAG) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of CASA's Executive Leadership Team, leading the FIAG Division and providing the Chief Executive Officer/Director of Aviation Safety (CEO/DAS) with high‑level strategic and operational advice across finance, governance, audit and international engagement matters.
The EM FIAG & CFO contributes to CASA's strategic direction, supports effective stewardship of public resources, and influences aviation safety outcomes through sound financial management, governance oversight and compliance with legislative and international obligations. The role represents CASA and the CEO/DAS at a senior level in engagement with government agencies, industry stakeholders, international aviation bodies and the wider community.
As Executive Manager FIAG you will:
- Lead CASA's Finance, International, Audit & Governance Division, providing strategic financial leadership,
governance oversight and executive advice to the CEO/DAS.
- Promote financial stewardship, governance excellence and strategic international collaboration.
- As part of the Executive Leadership Team, support delivery of CASA’s executive priorities and strategic direction.
- Drive financial sustainability, accountability, aviation safety outcomes and influence aviation safety outcomes through embedding a values‑based culture aligned to CASA’s Values.
Eligibility
To be eligible you will have:
- Demonstrated high level experience in financial management, including financial control, budgeting, funding strategies and financial sustainability
- Strong knowledge and experience in the interpretation and application of finance‑related legislation, Australian Accounting Standards and public sector governance frameworks.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting and current membership of a recognised qualified accounting body.
- Experience operating within complex regulatory, government or highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrated experience across corporate governance, compliance, audit and assurance
- Knowledge of the international civil aviation framework, including Australia’s obligations and engagement within the International Civil Aviation Organization environment,
would be highly regarded.
- The successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance
- The role is based in Canberra and may require interstate and overseas travel.
