FULL TIME, PERMANENT (38 HOURS PER WEEK PLUS REASONABLE ADDITIONAL HOURS)
SALARY: $79,423 to $90,000 PER ANNUM PLUS STATUTORY SUPERANNUATION
Holmes Panel & Paint Smash Repairs is seeking a qualified and experienced Panel Beater to join our automotive smash repair workshop in Armadale, Western Australia.
The successful applicant will assess, repair and restore accident-damaged vehicles to manufacturer specifications using modern panel beating, measuring, alignment and welding equipment. The role requires the ability to complete repairs independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity and workplace safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities The successful applicant will:
- Inspect damaged vehicles and assess structural and panel damage.
- Review repair specifications, job cards and insurance instructions to determine repair requirements.
- Remove damaged panels, trims, bumpers, lights and associated components to gain access to damaged areas.
- Repair damaged body panels using recognised panel beating techniques including reshaping, shrinking, stretching and pulling.
- Straighten vehicle bodies, chassis and structural components using mechanical, hydraulic and electronic alignment equipment.
- Measure vehicle bodies and structural components to ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications.
- Remove and replace damaged panels and structural sections using new, recycled or fabricated components where required.
- Cut, shape and fit replacement sections made from steel, aluminium, fibreglass and plastic materials.
- Perform automotive welding,
bonding and fastening processes in accordance with repair procedures and safety standards.
- Repair or replace vehicle body components before preparing surfaces for refinishing through filling, grinding and sanding.
- Refit and align panels, doors, guards, bonnets, bumpers, trims, mouldings, locks, lights and related hardware.
- Carry out final quality inspections to ensure correct alignment, panel fit and structural integrity before vehicles proceed to painting or delivery.
- Identify additional damage and report variations to the Workshop Manager or estimator.
- Complete job records accurately and maintain workshop documentation.
- Operate and maintain workshop tools and equipment safely while following workplace health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Work cooperatively with painters, estimators, mechanics, insurers and other workshop staff to achieve repair timeframes and quality outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing training relating to new vehicle construction, repair methods and manufacturer standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- An AQF Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology (Panel Beating) or an equivalent recognised trade qualification
- An overseas qualification assessed as comparable to the relevant Australian trade qualification; and
- At least two years' relevant practical panel beating experience.
- Applicants without the specified qualification may also be considered where they have at least three years' full-time industry experience in a similar environment.
Required Skills
- Strong panel beating and collision repair skills.
- Experience repairing structural and non-structural vehicle damage.
- Competence in vehicle body measuring, chassis alignment and panel replacement.
- Experience with automotive welding, cutting, bonding and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to work with steel, aluminium, fibreglass and plastic vehicle components.
- Competence using hydraulic pulling equipment, welders, grinders and other panel repair tools.
- Ability to read repair specifications, technical information and job documentation.
- Knowledge of manufacturer-approved repair methods and modern vehicle construction.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality repairs safely and efficiently.

Salary:
$79,423 to $90,000 per annum plus statutory superannuation.
