Due to our current growth, we are seeking to appoint a Payroll Officer on a 12 month contract based at Head office in Doncaster
The Payroll Officer is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services for Nacap employees across projects and corporate operations. The role ensures all payroll processes, entitlements, employee data, and reporting meet legislative, industrial instrument, and company requirements. This role supports the broader People & Culture and Finance teams by providing customer-focused payroll advice, data integrity oversight, and continuous improvement of payroll processes.
As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
- Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls in accordance with employment contracts, enterprise agreements, awards, and company procedures, ensuring strict adherence to payroll deadlines.
- Process salary changes, termination calculations, and salary sacrifice requests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verify and process timesheet data, including allowances, overtime, shift penalties, leave requests, and payroll deductions.
- Manage the end‑to‑end timesheet process, including timely follow‑up of submissions, accuracy checks, identifying inconsistencies, and resolving discrepancies or outstanding issues.
- Undertake all End of Month (EOM) and End of Year (EOY) payroll processes, including reconciliations and reporting.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with statutory obligations, including PAYG withholding, superannuation, payroll tax, WorkCover, and leave entitlements.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of changes to taxation, superannuation, payroll legislation, and enterprise agreements.
- Respond promptly and professionally to payroll enquiries, providing clear advice and support to employees, managers, and key stakeholders.
What do you bring?
In addition to the above, we require an individual with;
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Payroll Officer role, ideally within civil construction or large‑scale infrastructure projects such as roads, pipelines, oil & gas, renewables, or utilities
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience with HRIS and payroll systems, preferably HR3, along with time and attendance platforms.
- A strong working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES), relevant Awards, and superannuation obligations.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply EBAs, Awards, and employment contracts accurately in a high‑volume payroll workplace.
- Experience with end‑of‑month (EOM) and end‑of‑year (EOY) processing and payroll reconciliations
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, with the ability to analyse and manage payroll data effectively.
- A thorough understanding of payroll legislation, taxation requirements, and industrial instruments, ensuring compliance at all times.
