FULL TIME 38 HOURS PER WEEK MINIMUM 4 WEEKS ANNUAL LEAVE SALARY PLUS SUPER
$78K PA - $88K PA plus super TORQUE CONVERTER TECHNOLOGIES PTY. LTD. is looking for a Fitter and Turner to support their workshop operations.
Torque Converter Technologies, home of Accelerator High Stall Converters, is an Australian specialist in aftermarket torque converters and transmission components, operating since 1996. Backed by a highly experienced team, the company supplies standard remanufactured, performance high-stall, heavy-duty, industrial, commercial, 4WD and off-road torque converters, including modified and custom-built solutions for brands such as Ford, Chrysler, GM, Toyota, Subaru, Mercedes and Land Rover.
Their expertise focuses on matching converters to each vehicle and application to improve power delivery, performance and efficiency. To be considered for the role, you need to have a relevant industry qualification or at least 1-2 years' experience in a similar position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Study technical drawings, specifications and job requirements to determine machining methods, materials, tolerances and sequence of operations.
- Set up and operate lathes, milling, drilling, grinding and other machining equipment to manufacture, modify and repair torque converter components.
- Machine metal components to specified dimensions and fine tolerances, including hubs, covers, races and other torque converter parts.
- Dismantle torque converters and inspect internal components for wear, damage, faults and serviceability.
- Fit and assemble machined and fabricated metal components to rebuild standard, high-stall, heavy-duty and performance torque converters.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers and dial indicators to check dimensions, clearances, alignment and fit.
- Set and adjust machine controls, cutting tools, feeds and speeds to achieve accurate machining and quality finishes.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and repair or recondition worn and damaged torque converter components using machining, fitting and fabrication techniques.
- Inspect, test and perform operational checks on completed torque converter assemblies to ensure correct operation, accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic fault identification on workshop machinery and equipment.
- Manufacture, repair and modify components such as hubs, shafts, sleeves, bushes and other precision transmission parts as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment and comply with workplace health and safety requirements
- Work collaboratively with other tradespeople and workshop staff to complete jobs efficiently and to meet required quality standards
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant mechanical trade qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Experience working with small- to large-scale jobs in an industrial jobbing workplace
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in conventional machining
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a workshop team
- Flexible, reliable and cooperative approach to work
- Previous experience assisting with or training apprentices would be advantageous
