About the role:
An exciting opportunity has become available for caring, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join the team within the Emergency Department Team.
Our Emergency Nurses have a strong clinical understanding and the ability to collaborate effectively with an inter-professional team to ensure that patients receive the highest quality care when facing potentially life-threatening conditions.
You will be supported by experienced Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Instructors who provide clinical education and supervision in this unit 7 days a week.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess the clinical, non-clinical and social needs, including the identification of at-risk patients, and record with appropriate and accurate documentation in the patient’s history and care plan and implement patient specific risk minimisation strategies.
- Recognise changes in patients’ condition and take necessary actions.
- Effectively develop discharge plans that reflect the needs of patients and their significant others and demonstrate an understanding of the role of community providers.
- Promote patient safety, quality improvement and adherence to clinical standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
- Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
About you:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Excellent clinical skills.
- A commitment to high-quality, safe person-centred care.
- Valid Australian working rights.
- Available to work a rotating roster including nights, weekend and public holidays.
- Have a passion for a fast-paced acute inpatient environment.
- A post-graduate qualification in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing is highly desirable.

Sunshine Hospital Short Stay Unit (SH-SSU) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate experienced registered nurse seeking a career in a very supportive and fast-paced environment.
The key objective of this unit is to safely assess, admit,
and discharge patients within 24 hours of hospital presentation. We care for adult health consumers presenting with a broad range of medical, surgical, and gynaecological conditions, making the SSU an ideal work workplace for nurses seeking variety and opportunities to expand their clinical skills and scope of practice within a supportive team setting.
The unit is committed to improving patient outcomes and patient experience by delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while minimising inpatient length of stay, resulting in improved patient access and flow across Western Health.
