About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Design Lead is responsible for translating MOR's brand strategy into compelling, commercially effective creative outcomes across all customer touchpoints.
This is a hands-on senior design role combining creative leadership, brand stewardship and design execution. You will manage projects from concept through to finished artwork and production, working closely with Marketing, Sales, New Product Development and external suppliers to ensure creative work is delivered to a consistently high standard, on brand and on time.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience in consumer product and packaging design, excellent visual judgement and a genuine understanding of the Australian beauty, lifestyle and retail market.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the creative execution and rollout of MOR's visual identity across product, packaging, retail, digital and marketing channels.
Develop creative concepts and translate brand and campaign strategies into high-quality visual solutions.
Design and deliver product and packaging artwork from concept through to final production.
Develop monthly and seasonal campaign assets across eCommerce, EDM, social media, PR, visual merchandising, presentations and sales collateral.
Maintain and evolve MOR's Brand Guidelines and ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints.
Work closely with Marketing, Sales and NPD teams to interpret briefs and deliver commercially effective creative outcomes.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously within agreed timelines and priorities.
Prepare production-ready finished artwork for packaging, promotional materials, POS and digital applications.
Coordinate external printers, photographers, agencies and other creative suppliers, including quotation and production management.
Create sales and trade marketing materials, including sell sheets, presentations and trade fair collateral.
Undertake and/or direct product and creative photography and post-production where required.
Contribute creative insight to product development, packaging innovation and broader brand strategy.
Maintain awareness of Australian and international trends across beauty, fragrance, fashion, lifestyle and retail.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Visual Communication or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in a senior graphic design, brand design or design leadership position.
A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated branding, packaging and consumer product design capability.
Experience within beauty, cosmetics, fragrance, fashion, FMCG,
lifestyle or premium consumer brands will be highly regarded.
Strong experience taking packaging projects from creative concept through artwork, pre-press and production.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
Strong understanding of print production, packaging specifications, typography, colour and finished artwork requirements.
Experience designing across both physical and digital channels, including eCommerce and social media.
Photography, image retouching and art direction capability would be advantageous.
Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of creative and visual judgement.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work directly with senior management and cross-functional teams.
A commercial mindset and an understanding that great design must support both brand equity and sales performance.
Strong understanding of Australian consumers, lifestyle and contemporary visual culture.
