Our client is a dominant force in the Victorian development landscape, providing expert advice across transport, planning, and urban design. They are seeking an Associate - Transport Design to join their fast expanding traffic engineering business unit. This is a senior appointment focused on delivering innovative traffic and transport design solutions for a diverse range of projects—from major residential and commercial subdivisions to complex urban renewal and government infrastructure programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design management: Lead the technical delivery of transport design projects, including functional and detailed design of intersections, road alignments, car parks, and active transport infrastructure.
- Strategic Advisory: Provide high-level technical advice to private developers and government agencies, ensuring designs are safe, effective, and compliant with Victorian standards (e.g., DTP/VicRoads and Australian Standards).
- Project Management: Oversee the commercial performance of projects, including fee proposals, resource allocation, and maintaining a high standard of QA across all deliverables.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Represent the firm at VCAT, planning panels, and in negotiations with local councils and road authorities.
About You
- Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Industry Experience: 8–12+ years of professional experience in traffic engineering or transport design, specifically within a Victorian consulting environment.
- Software Competencies: Ideally strong practical experience using Microstation and AutoCad
- Regulatory Expert: Comprehensive knowledge of Victorian planning and transport frameworks, including the Transport Integration Act and relevant Austroads guidelines.
- Communication: Exceptional report writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex design concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
