Are you an experienced underground Mine Planning Engineer looking to influence the future of a world-class underground mining operation?
This is an outstanding chance to join a high-performing Technical Services team at one of Australia's premier underground metalliferous mines.
You'll play a pivotal role in transforming long and medium-term strategies into practical, executable mine plans while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to operational excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
You'll be responsible for optimising mine performance, improving plan reliability and helping drive production through technically sound, value-focused planning and design.
About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you'll lead the development of medium-term mine plans and underground designs that are safe, practical and commercially optimised.
Key responsibilities include
- Develop accurate mine plans, schedules, budgets and forecasts.
- Produce and review underground mine designs, development layouts and stope designs.
- Coordinate geological, geotechnical, ventilation and operational inputs into planning activities.
- Translate strategic mine plans into executable operational designs.
- Monitor plan performance and quickly identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce plan-versus-actual variance.
- Maintain planning standards, design processes and technical documentation.
- Support operational teams with practical planning solutions and technical guidance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance mine recovery, productivity and operational performance.
- Mentor and support planning engineers while collaborating closely with mining,
geology and operations teams.
About You
You'll be a Mining Engineer with underground hard rock experience and a passion for solving complex planning challenges.
Ideally you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in underground metalliferous mine planning and design.
- Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, drill and blast, mine scheduling and stope optimisation.
- Experience using Deswik (CAD essential, with IS, MDM or Ops highly regarded).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Current Driver's Licence.
Highly regarded
- Queensland Site Safety Supervisor qualifications (G1, G8, G9 or equivalent).
- Queensland Explosives Security Clearance.
- First Aid Certificate.
