Some operations leadership roles are defined by scale. Others are defined by complexity.
This role offers both.
Phibion is a specialist mining services business operating across Australia, delivering innovative residue management and resource recovery solutions to major mining clients. As the business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead multiple site-based teams across Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
Reporting to the General Manager Global Operations, you will take ownership of operational performance across a portfolio of contracts, leading approximately 35 FIFO employees through site supervisors and frontline leaders. You will be the person who keeps the moving parts moving, ensuring contracts are delivered safely, commercially and consistently while maintaining strong relationships with both clients and your own workforce.
This is a role for a leader who enjoys being close enough to operations to understand what’s really happening, while maintaining the broader view required to manage performance across multiple sites.
The Opportunity
You will lead the day-to-day operational delivery of several dispersed mining services contracts, ensuring people, equipment, schedules and customer expectations remain aligned.
Success in this role will come from your ability to:
- Lead and support remote operational teams across multiple FIFO sites
- Build strong, professional relationships with mining clients while appropriately challenging expectations when required
- Manage contract performance, operational reporting and commercial outcomes
- Ensure workforce planning, rostering and resource allocation stay ahead of operational requirements
- Drive a culture of accountability, safety and consistent operational execution
- Monitor performance, identify emerging risks and intervene before issues escalated
- Provide clear and timely reporting across operational, financial and workforce metrics
- Partner closely with site leaders while maintaining visibility across the broader operation

Importantly, this is not simply a customer-facing role.
Phibion is a service provider operating in dynamic environments where customer needs, workforce challenges and operational realities often need to be balanced simultaneously. The successful candidate will understand how to advocate for the customer while also supporting the long-term sustainability of the business and wellbeing of its people.
About You
You are likely to have built your career within mining services, industrial services, contracting, resources or a similarly operational environment.
You understand contracts, customers and operational delivery, but you also recognise that strong people leadership sits at the centre of sustainable performance.
You will bring:
- Significant experience leading multi-site operational teams within mining services, resources, heavy industry or contracting environments
- Demonstrated contract management and customer relationship experience
- Experience leading FIFO and/or remote workforces
- Strong operational and commercial acumen, including reporting, cost management and performance accountability
- The ability to navigate competing priorities while remaining calm, practical and solutions-focused
- A leadership style that is visible, fair, consistent and accountable
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
- A track record of improving operational performance through disciplined execution rather than unnecessary complexity
Most importantly, you will be someone who takes ownership.
You’ll be comfortable stepping into the detail when required, making decisions, resolving issues and ensuring both customers and employees know what good performance looks like.
Why Phibion?
Phibion offers the opportunity to join a growing Australian business where decisions are made close to operations and where leaders have genuine scope to influence outcomes.
You’ll work directly with an experienced and supportive executive leader who values autonomy, accountability and clear communication. You’ll inherit an established operation while helping shape the next phase of growth as additional sites come online across Australia.
For accomplished operational leaders who enjoy balancing people, performance and customer outcomes, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
