An experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of Kilcomer Group's civil construction projects nationally. Reporting to the Construction/Project Director, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on program, within budget and to the quality standards our clients expect — while building and leading the site teams that make that happen. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is as comfortable on a live site as they are managing resourcing, budgets and client relationships from the office.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, resourcing and day-to-day delivery of multiple concurrent FRP and civil construction projects across Australia.
- Monitor project programs, budgets and productivity, proactively identifying and resolving issues that threaten schedule, cost or quality.
- Coordinate logistics for remote and regional projects, including workforce mobilisation, accommodation, plant and material delivery.
- Support tendering and project setup, including resource planning and methodology input for upcoming works.
- Lead, mentor and manage site supervisors, foremen and project teams across multiple sites.
- Drive workforce planning and recruitment to ensure the right people and skills are on the right projects at the right time.
- Foster the dynamic, cohesive team culture Kilcomer Group is known for, and uphold high standards of accountability on site.
- Champion a robust safety culture on every site, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and Kilcomer Group's ISO 45001 safety management system.
- Ensure work is delivered in line with ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management requirements.
- Oversee HSEQ reporting, incident management and continuous improvement across all active projects.
About you
- Significant experience in an Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager or Construction Manager role within civil construction, ideally with FRP, structural concrete or heavy civil experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams concurrently, including projects in remote or regional locations.
- Strong working knowledge of WHS, quality and environmental management systems (ISO 45001, 9001, 14001 or equivalent).
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate high-performing site teams.
- Sound commercial and budget management skills, with confident client and stakeholder relationship management.
- Relevant trade, engineering or construction management qualification, and a current driver's licence with willingness to travel.
- Experience across bridges, dams, water/wastewater infrastructure, renewables or mining infrastructure projects (desirable).
- Tier-1 contractor experience or exposure to major infrastructure delivery (desirable).
- Relevant safety and management certifications such as White Card, First Aid, Cert IV or Diploma in Building & Construction (desirable).
