FRP Site supervisor for structural concrete
The FRP Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and delivery of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) fabrication and installation works on Kilcomer Group project sites, including intake shafts, marine and water infrastructure, and other civil/structural scopes requiring FRP application. The role ensures work is delivered safely, to specification, on program, and within budget, while directly supervising crews and coordinating with site management, engineering, and client representatives.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, sequence, and supervise all FRP fabrication, lamination, and installation activities on site in accordance with drawings, specifications, and approved ITPs.
- Lead and coordinate FRP crews (leading hands, tradespersons, labourers), including daily task allocation, toolbox talks, and pre-start briefings.
- Interpret technical drawings and manufacturer/resin system specifications, ensuring correct application, cure times, and environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) are maintained.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with WHS legislation, Kilcomer's safety management system, and site-specific safe work method statements (SWMS), including hazardous chemical handling (resins, catalysts, solvents) and confined space or working-at-heights controls where applicable.
- Conduct quality control and inspection of FRP works against AS/NZS standards and project specifications, maintaining ITP hold points, inspection records, and non-conformance reporting.
- Liaise with the Project Engineer, Site Manager, and client/principal contractor representatives on program, quality, and technical issues.
- Manage material take-offs, ordering, and on-site stock control for resins, fibreglass/carbon reinforcement, consumables,
and PPE.
- Track crew hours, productivity, and progress against program; report delays, variations, and rework risks promptly.
- Support incident investigation, hazard reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives on site.
- Mentor and upskill FRP crew members, supporting trade development and competency verification.
About you
- Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in FRP/composite fabrication and installation, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated experience with wet lay-up, spray-up, or vacuum infusion FRP processes in an industrial, marine, or civil infrastructure setting.
- Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards (e.g. AS 3600, AS/NZS 2280 or equivalent composite/FRP standards) and manufacturer application guidelines.
- Current White Card (Construction Induction) and willingness to obtain site-specific inductions.
- Sound understanding of WHS obligations, SWMS development/use, and hazardous substances handling relevant to resin systems.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel/work away across QLD, NSW, ACT, and SA project sites.
- Solid communication skills, with the ability to supervise a multi-trade crew and coordinate with engineering and client stakeholders.
- Desirable: Trade qualification in composites, boat-building, or a related fabrication trade.
- Desirable: Experience on marine, water/wastewater, or dam/hydro infrastructure projects.
- Desirable: Confined space and working-at-heights tickets.
