We're seeking an exceptional coach, leader and developer of people who is driven by performance, thrives in high performance environments and is passionate about helping athletes reach their full potential. This role is offered on a fixed term contract to August 2029.
Working closely with the Head Coach, you'll play a critical role in delivering outstanding coaching programs and developing the next generation of Western Australian and Australian female cricketers.
As Senior Assistant Coach (Batting), you will be a key contributor to the success of both the WA Women’s Cricket Team and Perth Scorchers WBBL program. You will lead the batting program, driving technical, tactical and performance development.
You'll also help create the environment, systems and standards that drive sustained success while developing individual players and future talent across the female high-performance pathway.
This role combines elite coaching, leadership, talent identification and player development, making it an exceptional opportunity for a coach looking to make a genuine impact within one of Australia's premier cricket programs.
How you’ll make an impact
- Partner with the Head Coach to build and sustain a high performance culture that drives team success.
- Lead the planning and delivery of elite training programs for the WA Women’s Cricket Team and Perth Scorchers WBBL squad.
- Provide hands-on technical coaching, performance feedback and on-demand player support.
- Develop and implement individual player development plans, including performance reviews and progression strategies.
- Collaborate with high-performance support staff including sports science, medical, wellbeing and performance specialists.
- Utilise performance analysis, video review and athlete management systems to enhance player and team performance.
- Support talent identification,
player scouting and selection processes across state, WBBL and pathway programs.
- Contribute to the growth and integration of Western Australia’s female high-performance cricket pathway.
- Build strong relationships with players, coaches, stakeholders and the broader WA Cricket network.
- Champion professional standards, player wellbeing, safety and behaviours aligned with Cricket Australia and WA Cricket values.
A great fit for this role looks like
- Level 3 Cricket Australia Coaching Accreditation (or equivalent internationally recognised certification) and commitment to achieve Level 3 Cricket Australia Coaching Accreditation.
- Tertiary qualification in Sports Coaching, Sports Science, Sports Management or related discipline (desirable)
- Minimum 2 years cricket coaching experience at an elite level.
- A solid understanding of the requirements of elite cricket.
- Demonstrated ability to develop elite players
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.
- Experience leading and managing people and proven ability to develop a high performance culture within teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Detailed understanding of, and networks in, Western Australian cricket (desirable).
- An understanding of cricket at an international level (desirable).
