The College is seeking applications for the following position:

Head of Learning Area - Future Pathways

(Ongoing – Full-time, commencing 1 January 2027)

The Role

Our Lady of Mercy College is seeking an experienced and cooperative educational leader to join our College Leadership Team as Head of Learning Area – Future Pathways.

This key leadership role is responsible for leading and developing the College’s future pathways, careers education, vocational education and training (VET), student engagement and transition initiatives. Working closely with the Deputy Principal Senior School, College Leadership Team, Heads of Learning Area, Heads of Year, staff, students, families and external partners, the successful applicant will help ensure every student is supported to identify and pursue meaningful pathways aligned with their strengths, interests and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development and implementation of the College’s Future Pathways, Careers and VET programs.

- Lead and support staff involved in VET, careers education and pathway programs, building staff capability and effective practice.

- Oversee school-based and external VET programs, including partnerships with Registered Training Organisations, industry and community providers.

- Coordinate traineeships, apprenticeships, workplace learning and external VET opportunities for students.

- Develop and lead the College careers education program, including resources, lessons, events and information sessions.

- Provide careers, subject selection and pathway counselling to students and families.





- Support students to develop personalised pathway plans aligned with their strengths, interests and aspirations.

- Provide current information and guidance on university, TAFE, VET, employment and other post-school pathways.

- Coordinate tertiary, training, careers and pathway events and information sessions for students and families.

- Support students with tertiary applications, scholarships, awards and other post-school opportunities.

- Monitor student pathway and VET data and work with relevant staff to support student achievement and successful transitions.

- Build and maintain strong partnerships with universities, training providers, industry, community organisations and external pathway networks.

- Ensure VET and careers programs comply with relevant SCSA, CEWA, RTO and other regulatory requirements.

- Contribute to the strategic priorities of the College through the Academic Council, Middle Leaders and College Leadership structures.

- Provide strategic advice to the Deputy Principal Senior School and College Executive on student pathways, careers, VET and post-school transitions.
