About the role
You will be a Club Development Officer embedded within Port Douglas Crocs, employed by AFL Cairns but focused on the Crocs and the Port Douglas football community. You will work alongside the Club President, committees, coaches and volunteers to strengthen the club for its next generation.
Key responsibilities
- Strengthen football development from junior through to senior level
- Create clear and sustainable player pathways
- Grow women's and girls' football
- Support the recruitment and development of coaches
- Recruit, develop and retain volunteers
- Work alongside the President and committees on football operations and planning
- Reduce administrative pressure on volunteers
- Strengthen governance and sustainable club systems
- Build participation and long-term football sustainability in Port Douglas
About you
- Experience in community sport, coaching, development or club administration
- Strong understanding of grassroots AFL and player development
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, support and develop volunteers
- Solid relationship-building and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Club President and committees
- Initiative and the ability to work independently
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Understanding of community club governance and sustainable operations
- Genuine enthusiasm for community football and developing people
- A valid Blue Card
About us
Established in 1989, Port Douglas Crocs is the only AFL club north of Cairns, located approximately 70km from the city in one of Australia's most recognised destinations – close to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. The Crocs have a formidable football history, with 10 premierships and programs extending from Under 8s through to senior football, including junior and women's programs. This role forms part of a new AFL Cairns initiative providing dedicated full-time football development resources within senior clubs.
