RETAIL MANAGER | HD PUMPS - WINNELLIE

HD Pumps is a trusted name in the pump and water equipment industry, dedicated to Making Water Work through quality products and expert service. We're looking for a capable, hands-on Retail Manager to lead our Winnellie store and team, someone who can look after customers, lead the team, run the floor and keep the back end ticking over.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a diverse, hands-on leadership role running the retail side of our Winnellie branch.

As our Retail Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operation of our retail sales and stores team. One minute you'll be helping a customer find the right product and preparing a quote; the next you'll be looking after key trade accounts, leading the team and making sure purchasing, stock control and goods receipting are running smoothly.

Our products are technical by nature, so you'll build solid product knowledge over time. Our Sales Manager and technical sales team do the heavy lifting on complex applications, tenders and projects, leaving you free to focus on customers, the team and the store.

You'll work closely with the Branch Manager and Sales Manager, and alongside the Service Manager, to deliver great customer service and drive the continued growth of HD Pumps.

This role includes rostered Saturday morning shifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead the day-to-day operation of the retail sales and stores team, setting the standard through your own conduct and customer service

- Build and maintain strong relationships with our repeat commercial and trade customers, being their reliable, go-to point of contact

- Serve customers at the counter, advise on products and maximise every sale,



with support from the Sales Manager and technical sales team on complex jobs

- Oversee the presentation, standards and customer experience of the Winnellie showroom

- Prepare accurate quotes and support the Sales Manager with tenders and project quotations

- Oversee purchasing, goods receipting, stock control and inventory in MYOB Acumatica, including cover for our Business Administration Officer during absences

- Test and commission new pumps and assemble or modify fittings to suit customer needs

- Manage cash and payment systems and balance the till as required

- Participate in the Saturday morning roster

ABOUT YOU

You're a practical, customer-focused leader who enjoys running a busy store and getting the best out of a team. You're organised, hands-on, solutions-oriented and as comfortable behind the counter as you are keeping the stores and admin side in order.

To be successful, you'll have:

- Retail, trade or customer service sales experience

- Management or supervisory experience

- Robust customer service skills and a genuine interest in helping customers find the right solution

- The ability to lead, motivate and develop a team

- Problem-solving ability, initiative and attention to detail

- Good communication skills and solid computer skills (sales, purchasing, stock and general admin)

- A willingness to learn our products,

- Current Australian (manual) driver's licence and ability to pass a National Police Check

Well regarded, but not essential:

- Technical sales background or trade qualification in plumbing, irrigation, mechanical fitting, water treatment or a related field

- Experience in one or more of our product categories (pumps, pressure cleaning, irrigation, pool and spa, pressure systems, bores)

- Frontline leadership or management qualification, or equivalent experience

- Experience reading pump curves or selecting equipment to a duty point

- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
