We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced policy professional to apply their economic, employment and training skills and expertise to contribute to the work of the First Nations Economic Partnership.

About the organisation

The Coalition of Peaks is a representative body of more than 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled peak organisations and members who have come together to Close the Gap, in partnership with Australian governments.

We share a belief that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should have a meaningful say on policies and programs related to Closing the Gap through formal partnerships with Australian governments at all levels.

The Coalition of Peaks Policy and Secretariat Team supports the work of the Coalition of Peaks, providing high level and comprehensive policy and strategic advice to Peaks Members, to support the implementation and monitoring of actions in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

About the role

​​The Senior Policy Officer works under the guidance of the Assistant Director to support Coalition of Peaks to effectively participate in the First Nations Economic Partnership. This includes drafting meeting papers, briefings and reports, progressing out-of-session research and policy development and providing administrative and logistical support to Peaks Members where required. ​

Qualifications, technical expertise and experience required

​​You will have at least three years’ policy experience and a sound understanding of the factors affecting economic participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including economics, employment and/or training policy, programs and systems.



The Senior Policy Officer also requires a demonstrated understanding of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. You work well in a rapid-paced, dynamic environment and have the ability to adjust as priorities change.



​You will be able to apply your policy, research or advocacy skills to achieve the objectives of the team. You are collaborative and a team player, who shares their knowledge and expertise with others to build capabilities across the team.
