The Centre Cook is responsible for planning and preparing healthy, balanced meals and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of children. You will maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen, manage food ordering and stock control, and work collaboratively with educators to support children's health, wellbeing, and learning experiences through food.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children
- Cater for dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
- Manage food ordering, stock rotation, and kitchen supplies
- Ensure compliance with food handling regulations and centre policies
- Work collaboratively with educators and families to promote healthy eating habits
- Maintain kitchen records and documentation as required
About you
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Food handling certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain a clean, safe kitchen setting
- Warm, friendly, and team-oriented approach
- Experience in food preparation, catering, or a commercial kitchen
- Knowledge of nutrition requirements for young children
- Munch and move training
- Monday to Friday availability
