About the role

GBS is looking for a Technology Consultant to lead IT client relationships in Warrnambool: looking after a base of clients, guiding their technology decisions, and being the person they trust to keep their business running well. This is a role for a sharp, personable relationship-builder who knows enough about technology to have a credible conversation. If you can sit across the table from a business owner, understand what they actually need, and translate it into plain language, this could be the move you've been waiting for.

Key responsibilities

- Own and grow relationships with GBS's IT clients — regular contact, genuine understanding of their business, and a proactive approach to keeping them well looked after.

- Run structured account reviews — assess how each client's technology is performing, surface concerns early, and identify where GBS can add value.

- Have credible, concept-level conversations across networking, cloud, and cyber security — enough to guide the client and recommend the right direction, then hand the concept to our technical team.

- Position and sell GBS's Managed IT and Cyber offerings in a way that genuinely fits each client — a conversation about their situation, not a generic pitch.

- Spot and pursue growth — within the existing base and through new business where the prospect is real.

- Keep your pipeline current and report on it without being chased.

About you





- Experience in IT account management, technical sales, or a technical pre-sales role — comfortable managing and growing client relationships over time.

- A genuine people person — sharp, professional, and able to build trust quickly with business owners and decision-makers.

- Solid technical understanding across networking, cloud, and cyber security — enough to scope a concept and make credible recommendations. AI awareness is a plus.

- A translator — able to explain technology to a non-technical client in plain language, without the jargon.

- Commercially minded — can spot an opportunity and grow account value without being pushy about it.

- Self-directed and accountable — owns the client base and the pipeline, and doesn't need chasing.
