Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the organisation as an IT Trainee.Working as part of the Technology team, this traineeship provides a structured entry pathway into the Information Technology profession, combining formal study towards a Certificate IV in Information Technology with practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic and contemporary IT environment.
The IT Trainee will gain broad exposure across a range of IT functions, including service desk and end-user support, device management and deployment, systems administration, network infrastructure, cybersecurity and digital learning technologies.
Supported by experienced IT professionals, the successful candidate will develop practical technical skills through troubleshooting, customer support, system and device administration, and participation in IT projects and initiatives, while contributing to the delivery of high-quality IT services across DOSCEL and its school communities.
This traineeship is ideally suited to someone who is passionate about technology, eager to learn, enjoys solving problems and is looking to build a strong foundation for a career in Information Technology.
About the Role
The IT Trainee will:Provide first-level IT support to DOSCEL schools and offices, assisting with hardware, software, connectivity and user access issues.Troubleshoot common technical issues and escalate more complex matters when required.Assist with the setup, deployment and maintenance of laptops, desktops and other IT equipment.Support user accounts,



access management and Microsoft 365 applications.Gain exposure to networking, infrastructure and cybersecurity practices.Assist with IT projects, system rollouts, device refreshes and platform upgrades.Maintain accurate IT asset records and technical documentation.Complete a Certificate IV in Information Technology, with a minimum of six hours of dedicated study time provided each week during work hours.

values and ethos of Catholic Education.Commitment to Child Safety and an understanding of Child Protection responsibilities.Eligibility and commitment to enrol in and successfully complete a Certificate IV in Information Technology as part of the traineeship.A genuine interest in IT and a desire to build a career in the technology profession.Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems and basic networking concepts.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Good communication and interpersonal skills.A positive, customer-focused approach and willingness to learn.The ability to work collaboratively and take responsibility for assigned tasks.
Completion of Year 12 or equivalent, exposure to Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams and SharePoint, or previous experience with basic IT support and troubleshooting will be highly regarded. An interest in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, networking or systems administration would also be advantageous.
