Hand Therapist / Senior Hand Therapist – Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist
$82,000–$109,000 plus superannuation and bonus opportunities
Full-time or part-time | Townsville, Queensland
- Join an experienced team led by a Certified Hand Therapist
- Flexible full time or part-time arrangements, with access to RDOs
- Funded professional development and leadership training
Do you love hand therapy and want to work with people who are equally proud of doing it well?
Apricus Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with at least one year of hand therapy experience to join our established Townsville team.
You may be consolidating your early hand therapy skills or be a highly experienced clinician looking for recognition at a senior level. The position, remuneration and professional development opportunities will reflect the experience and strengths you bring.
Either way, we are looking for someone who cares about their clients, enjoys learning and wants to contribute to a team that is always looking for ways to do things better.
A team that genuinely loves hand therapy
You’ll work within an established Hand Therapy team led by a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and alongside experienced AHTA-accredited hand therapists.
We are proud of the clinical standards we have built and equally proud of the way our team supports one another. We share knowledge, discuss complex cases and continue learning from each other, regardless of how many years we have been practising.
For someone developing their hand therapy career, this means structured clinical support and mentoring from clinicians who understand the specialty.
For an experienced therapist, it means joining colleagues who will value the knowledge and perspective you bring. Clinicians appointed at a senior level can contribute through mentoring, clinical education and service development while maintaining a strong clinical focus.
Meaningful and varied clinical work
Based primarily at our central Pimlico clinic, you’ll manage a varied hand and upper limb caseload, including:
- Sports and workplace injuries
- Fracture management
- Pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation
- Nerve conditions and degenerative disorders
- Open trauma, wound, scar and burns management
- Neurological upper limb rehabilitation
- Chronic conditions such as arthritis and cumulative trauma
You’ll work closely with surgeons, GPs and other allied health professionals to provide coordinated, high-quality care.
The role also offers opportunities to deepen your expertise in custom orthosis fabrication, advanced treatment modalities and complex upper limb rehabilitation. If you have a particular interest in neurological upper limb rehabilitation, you’ll find a strong clinical foundation at Apricus from which to develop it further.
Experienced clinicians may also have opportunities to work from our clinic at the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Centre of Excellence.
Professional development that is actively supported
We don’t just encourage professional development. We provide the time, funding and clinical support to make it possible.
You’ll have access to:
- A generous professional development allowance
- Paid professional development leave
- Clinical mentoring and shared learning within an experienced team
- Opportunities to attend courses and conferences
- Funded leadership development for clinicians appointed at a senior level, including participation in the Dare to Lead™ program
Flexibility that works in practice
We offer full-time and part-time arrangements, with access to rostered days off for full-time employees.
We understand that our clinicians have lives outside work.
We’ll discuss an arrangement that works for you while also supporting our clients and the broader team.
Remuneration and benefits
- $82,000–$109,000 plus superannuation, based on experience
- Additional performance-based bonus opportunities
- Full-time or part-time employment
- Access to rostered days off for full time employees
- Professional development allowance and paid professional development leave
- Funded leadership development for senior clinicians
- Paid birthday leave
- Annual wellness allowance for expenses such as gym memberships, yoga or massage
- Confidential Employee Assistance Program support for you and your partner
- A workplace that is proud to be Great Place to Work® certified
About you
You will:
- Be a qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with current AHPRA registration
- Have at least one year of clinical experience in hand therapy
- Care about providing high-quality, client-centred care
- Value clinical excellence, collaboration and continued learning
- Enjoy sharing knowledge and contributing to a supportive team
- Build strong relationships with clients, referrers and colleagues
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, current First Aid and CPR certification and an NDIS Worker Screening clearance
- Hold a current driver’s licence
