About the role
The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operational functions of Gnarly Neighbours and The Neighbourhood, a youth not-for-profit and social enterprise comprising a café, skate store, print studio and indoor skatepark. This is a key senior management position working directly with the CEO to ensure the organisation has the people, systems, processes and financial foundations needed to grow its impact. This is a hands-on position requiring comfort moving between big-picture planning and practical day-to-day work required to keep a growing organisation running well.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Manage payroll, accounts payable and receivable
- Lead HR, recruitment, rostering and staff support
- Ensure organisational compliance, risk management and workplace health and safety
- Manage Child Safe Standards and organisational compliance requirements
- Track, report and acquit grant expenditure
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and operational systems
- Oversee facilities, assets, suppliers and contractors
- Provide operational oversight of social enterprise activities
- Support Department Managers and improve communication across the organisation
About you
- At least five years' experience in a senior management,
operations management or similar leadership role
- Strong financial management skills including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
- Experience managing people, HR processes and organisational systems
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence working with managers, employees, Board members and external stakeholders
- Experience with Xero, Square, Shopify and workflow/project management software
- The ability to lead by example and support an organisation through growth and change
- Experience within a not-for-profit, charity, social enterprise or community organisation would be highly regarded, as would knowledge of ACNC, Fair Work, child safety and workplace compliance
