Are you an inspiring Performing Arts educator ready to lead a flourishing Dance and Drama program and shape the artistic life of a vibrant city school?

St George's Anglican Grammar School is seeking an outstanding and passionate educator to join us as Head of Dance & Drama for a 12-month maternity leave contract commencing in January 2027.

This is a unique opportunity to lead an established and highly regarded Performing Arts program, direct a major school production, and inspire students to discover their creativity, confidence and voice through a performance lens.

Dance and Drama are thriving at St George's, with solid participation across curriculum and co-curricular programs including ATAR and General pathways in Years 11 and 12.

Students enthusiastically engage in a variety of dance troupes, drama clubs, performing arts festivals, competitions, dance and drama showcases and major school productions. All are central to the vibrancy of city school life.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is more than a teaching position.

It is an opportunity to lead a high-profile area of the School, to nurture young performers and to create memorable experiences that will inspire and transform students within the Performing Arts domain.

As Head of Dance & Drama, you will:

- Lead and inspire the Dance and Drama Department

- Drive excellence in teaching and learning across Years 7-12

- Develop innovative, engaging and contemporary Performing Arts programs

- Mentor and support colleagues within the department

- Oversee curriculum planning, assessment and reporting requirements

- Direct and manage the 2027 School Production, from initial auditions in February through to the final performances in August





- Lead co-curricular programs including Middle Years and Senior dance troupes, drama clubs, interhouse competitions and Interhouse Performing Arts Festivals and showcases

- Manage departmental resources, budgets and production logistics

- Foster strong partnerships with students, families and the wider school community

- Create opportunities for students to engage in performances, competitions and festivals

- Contribute positively to the life and culture of the School and its Anglican ethos

ABOUT YOU

You would need to be a passionate and energetic Performing Arts educator with the ability to inspire excellence both on stage and in the classroom.

You will demonstrate:

- Expertise in teaching Dance and Drama across Years 7 - 12

- A passion for the transformative power of the Performing Arts





- Proven leadership experience or strong potential for educational leadership of a growing Performing Arts team

- Outstanding classroom practice and contemporary pedagogical knowledge

- Experience directing, choreographing or producing theatrical performances

- Strong organisational and project management skills

- The ability to manage large-scale productions and complex timelines

- Experience working collaboratively with staff, students, families and a range of external providers

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- A commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion and the holistic education mindset that makes St George’s such a special school

- A commitment to fostering creativity, confidence and excellence in young performers.
