About the role
Guildford Grammar School is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join the School as Head of Outdoor Learning, commencing January 2027. Reporting to the Director of Outdoor Learning, this leadership role is responsible for the continued development and delivery of innovative outdoor learning programs from Years 1 to 10. The successful applicant will inspire students through adventure, experiential and place-based learning while leading program development, staff capability, operational excellence and a strong culture of safety and wellbeing.
Outdoor Learning is a valued part of the Guildford Grammar School experience, providing students with opportunities to develop character, resilience, leadership, wellbeing, environmental stewardship and connection to community. This role is more than program coordination. It is an opportunity to shape authentic, sequential and transformative learning experiences that inspire students to challenge themselves, build meaningful relationships and connect deeply with the natural environment.
The successful applicant will provide leadership across program development, staff capability, risk management, resource planning and operational excellence, ensuring all Outdoor Learning experiences are safe, inclusive, engaging and purposeful.

Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in the design, planning and delivery of Outdoor Learning programs, camps and expeditions
- Strong understanding of experiential, inquiry-based and place-based learning principles
- Demonstrated ability to develop sequential learning experiences that support leadership, resilience, personal growth and environmental stewardship
- Strong understanding of curriculum integration and the ability to connect Outdoor Learning experiences with broader educational outcomes
- Demonstrated competency across a broad range of outdoor recreation activities and environments
- Strong understanding of risk management, emergency response procedures and operational planning
- Demonstrated experience leading staff and students in remote, regional and outdoor settings
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated organisational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
- Commitment to student wellbeing, child safety, environmental stewardship and the Anglican ethos, values and strategic direction of Guildford Grammar School
About you
- Hold relevant teaching qualifications and an associated undergraduate degree
- Experience working in educational outdoor learning environments from Kindergarten to Year 10
- Hold current TRBWA registration
- Proof of right to work in Australia
- Hold a current Working with Children Check and current First Aid Certificate
- Hold a current valid manual driver’s licence, with Medium Rigid considered an advantage
- Remote Area First Aid, Leaders Wilderness First Aid, Aquatic Rescue and recognised Outdoor Recreation units of competency, or equivalent, will be highly regarded
