Turn Ideas Into Practical Digital Solutions. Use Data to Make a Difference.

Are you an analytical and solutions-focused professional who enjoys connecting people, systems and data?

Cape York Solutions is seeking a capable Digital Systems and Data Analyst to support the development, testing and rollout of a disaster preparedness app for a full-time, six-month fixed-term contract.

Based in Cairns, with the possibility of a hybrid working arrangement, you'll work alongside project staff, operational teams and external developers to ensure the app is practical, secure, well tested and suitable for community delivery contexts.

This is more than a technical role, it's an opportunity to use your digital system, business analysis and data skills to contribute to meaningful work across Cape York.

Join the Cape York Agenda

For more than 30 years, Cape York Partnership has worked with the First Nations people of Cape York to support community-led change.

Everything we do is guided by the Pama Futures Agenda, a cohesive reform framework incorporating land rights, empowerment and economic development for the people of Cape York, by the people of Cape York.

Cape York Solutions delivers this agenda on the ground through community services, employment, education, business enterprises, personal development opportunities and practical support across the region.

Why You'll Love This Role

You'll have the opportunity to work across the full digital delivery process, from clarifying user needs and testing development outputs to improving data quality and supporting implementation.

One day, you may be working with operational staff to map a system workflow or clarify a reporting requirement. The next, you could be testing new app functionality, responding to developer questions or analysing data to monitor activity and progress.

You'll combine digital system support, systems analysis and hands-on data work while helping create technology that meets the practical needs of staff and communities.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Digital System and Data Analyst, you'll:

- Support the design, development, testing and rollout of the disaster preparedness app.
- Gather, clarify and document user needs, system requirements, workflows and reporting requirements.

- Respond to developer questions and help translate operational needs into practical system improvements.
- Review and test development outputs against agreed requirements, project scope and funding obligations.
- Identify issues, coordinate feedback and support practical solutions.
- Help ensure app data is collected, stored, accessed and reported securely, with appropriate privacy and access controls.
- Extract, clean, validate and analyse data to support operational, management and funder reporting.
- Ensure reporting requirements are incorporated into the app so uptake, activity and completion can be monitored.
- Communicate system changes, process impacts and rollout information clearly to non-technical staff.
- Where capacity allows, support data and reporting improvements across the Pama Platform, Family Empowerment Database, Cape York Leaders database and related systems.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve the reliability, quality and usefulness of organisational data.

What We're Looking For

You'll be a practical and curious analyst who can see the bigger picture while maintaining solid attention to detail.

You'll bring:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in information systems, data analytics, business analysis, information technology, business, research or a related field-or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Experience in systems, data or business analysis, including gathering requirements and documenting processes.
- Experience supporting digital system development, testing, implementation or improvement projects.
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including the ability to query, extract, validate and interpret data.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or a similar SQL-based database.
- Experience supporting reporting requirements through data extracts, dashboards, visualisations or management reports.

- A sound understanding of data quality, privacy, confidentiality and access controls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, SharePoint and Teams.
- A current driver licence.
- A Working with Children Blue Card, or willingness to obtain one, and the ability to successfully complete a National Police Check.

Experience with offline-first applications, low-connectivity environments, external software developers, sprint-based development or regional and remote service delivery will be highly regarded.

Most importantly, you'll bring cultural awareness, respect and a genuine commitment to contributing to positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
