Nimbin Aged Care & Respite Services is looking for caring, reliable people to join our team and help older people in our community keep living the life they've chosen, in the place they call home.

We want good people to become great care workers and will support your ongoing training and development.

For the right people, we can support a traineeship pathway where you can work while completing your Certificate III in Individual Support.





What does a Care Worker actually do?

Every client is different, and that's part of what makes the job interesting.

Your day might involve:

- Helping someone shower, dress and get ready for their day

- Preparing a simple meal

- Helping with cleaning and household tasks

- Taking someone shopping

- Driving a client to an appointment or into town

- Providing respite so a family carer can have a break

- Providing companionship and social support

- Supporting a group activity, social outing or community event

- Helping older people stay connected with friends and their community

- Having a cuppa, a conversation and providing some company

- Checking that someone is doing okay

- Supporting people to keep doing the things they can safely do for themselves

Our job isn't to take over people's lives.

It's to help people remain as independent, active and connected as possible and continue living at home for as long as possible.

Who are we looking for?

Experience in aged care is valuable, but we're equally interested in finding the right people. You don't need to fit a particular mould.

What matters to us is that you are:

- Kind, respectful and genuinely interested in helping people

- Reliable – if you say you'll be there, you'll be there

- Practical and willing to help





- A good communicator

- Able to work independently

- Comfortable with the diversity and character of the Nimbin community

- Confident using technology

A sense of humour doesn't hurt either.

What you'll need

- Current Criminal History Check

- Current driver's licence and reliable comprehensively insured vehicle for community-based work.

If you already hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or an equivalent qualification, we'd particularly like to hear from you.

We're here for a simple reason:

We believe older people should be able to continue living at home and remain part of their community for as long as possible.

For some of the people we support, home is a house in Nimbin. For others it's a rural property or an off-grid intentional community.

And staying independent isn't just about getting help at home. It's also about friendship, getting out, having things to look forward to and remaining connected to other people.

That's why our work includes both individual support and opportunities for older people to come together through social groups, activities and outings.

Good community care makes it possible for people to remain connected to the places, people and way of life that matter to them.

That takes good systems and good training.
