About the Role

The Bend is seeking an experienced, CA or CPA qualified Assistant Finance Manager to strengthen the leadership of our accounting function. Reporting to the Finance Manager and leading a small team, this newly created role is central to lifting the rigor, consistency and timeliness of our financial reporting as the business continues to grow.

You'll take day-to-day ownership of the accounting function's output — reviewing the work of your team, tightening controls, and building the checklists, processes and standard operating procedures that will underpin the function as it scales. This is a genuine leadership opportunity for a technically strong accountant who wants more than a reporting role: someone who takes pride in getting the detail right, enjoys mentoring junior staff, and wants to build systems rather than just work within them.

About our workplace

Our workplace is dynamic, driven, and full of momentum — reflecting the high-performance world of motorsport that defines our business. We thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment where precision, innovation, and teamwork fuel success.

Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, and our people meet them with energy, accountability, and a solutions-focused mindset. Collaboration and open communication are at the heart of how we operate, ensuring that ideas move quickly from concept to execution.

We celebrate excellence, continuous improvement, and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional results. Our culture is one of passion, purpose, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the monthly,

quarterly and annual financial reporting cycle, including reconciliations, journals and general ledger integrity.

- Directly manage, review and develop the work of the Accountant and Data Clerk, ensuring output meets required standards of accuracy and timeliness.

- Develop and embed checklists, processes and standard operating procedures across the accounting function to support consistent, disciplined ways of working.

- Contribute to budget creation and financial forecasting activities, comparing actual performance with projected figures.

- Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled and substantiated on a regular, disciplined cycle.

- Support the Finance Manager with month-end and year-end close and statutory reporting requirements, including tax lodgements.

- Act as the key point of technical accounting knowledge within the finance team, supporting the Finance Manager's engagement with business unit heads.

- Support external tax agents in the preparation of tax returns, analysing accounts and responding to complex queries relating to the business's taxation position.

- Contribute to the development and application of accounting policy in line with tax, banking and other regulatory requirements.

- Foster a culture of accountability and attention to detail across the accounting function.

- Any other duties as requested from time to time.

Key Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field

- CA or CPA with at least 5+ years in a financial accountant role

- Advanced Excel skills with a demonstrated high level of finance modelling

- Solid communication and analytical skills

- Keen literacy, time management and interpersonal skills with an ability to work well independently

What we are looking for

At The Bend, our unrelenting commitment to providing "best in class" outcomes across our business is what sets us apart. We unashamedly believe in being the best and are eager to welcome individuals to our team who share our passion for excellence and winning.

We are looking for individuals who consistently demonstrate high levels of accountability and exceptional performance. We believe these attributes accompanied by a strong work ethic, a bias to action and a commitment to communicate are the underlying theme of our culture.

Whilst primarily based at our Kensington office, this role is required to attend The Bend weekly.

Why Join Us

- Be part of a dynamic and growing organisation.

- Lead and shape the finance function in a collaborative and supportive environment.

- Opportunities for professional development and career growth.

If you’re a CPA-Qualified Accountant with experience in financial reporting, budgeting, compliance and business advisory services, we want to hear from you!

To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your experience and suitability for the role.
