The role
We are on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate Outdoor Learning Program Teacher to join our Outdoor Learning team, commencing January 2027. The Outdoor Learning Program is a cornerstone of the Guildford Grammar School experience, providing students with opportunities to challenge themselves, develop resilience, build meaningful relationships and cultivate leadership through adventure-based learning experiences. Through camps, expeditions, journeys and immersive outdoor programs, students develop the skills, confidence and character required to thrive both within and beyond the classroom.
This role is ideal for an educator who places student learning and wellbeing at the centre of their practice and has a strong understanding of holistic Kindergarten to Year 10 education. Working collaboratively with the Director of Outdoor Learning, teaching staff and external providers, the successful applicant will support the planning, coordination and delivery of outdoor learning experiences that foster challenge, reflection and meaningful learning.
You will have the opportunity to facilitate leadership development, teamwork, resilience and personal growth through adventure-based programs while providing exceptional pastoral care and support to students in dynamic outdoor environments.

Key responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience planning and delivering outdoor learning, camp and expedition programs for students
- Strong understanding of experiential learning principles and their application within outdoor education
- Demonstrated competency across a range of outdoor recreation activities and environments
- Ability to facilitate leadership, teamwork, resilience and personal growth through challenge-based experiences
- Solid understanding of risk management, emergency response procedures and outdoor operational planning
- Ability to assess and manage dynamic risk in a variety of outdoor environments
- Experience supervising students in remote and outdoor settings
- Strong knowledge of outdoor equipment management, maintenance and logistics
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Strong understanding of student wellbeing and positive behaviour management practices
- Ability to adapt learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of students
- Working knowledge of Leave No Trace principles, environmental responsibility and sustainable outdoor practices
About you
- Hold relevant teaching qualifications and an associated undergraduate degree
- Experience working in educational outdoor learning environments from Kindergarten to Year 10
- Hold current TRBWA registration
- Provide proof of right to work in Australia
- Hold a current Working with Children Check
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate
- Hold a current valid manual driver's licence, with Medium Rigid considered an advantage
- Remote Area First Aid, Leaders Wilderness First Aid, Aquatic Rescue and recognised Outdoor Recreation qualifications will be highly regarded
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to student wellbeing, child safety and environmental stewardship
