**Volunteer Events & Interschool Challenges Manager**

Rethink Australia Foundation Ltd is a youth-led environmental organisation empowering students and schools to drive sustainability through education, technology and community action.

As Rethink Australia expands its school engagement, we are seeking an Events & Interschool Challenges Manager to help plan and coordinate engaging environmental events and challenges for students and schools.

The volunteer will turn program concepts into well-organised activities with clear objectives, timelines, participation requirements and delivery plans. This is a hands-on coordination role working with schools, volunteers, partners and organisational leadership. The role does not have authority to make contractual or financial commitments without approval.

**Key responsibilities**

• Help design and coordinate interschool sustainability challenges, student activities, showcases and related events

• Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, run sheets, participation requirements and task allocations

• Coordinate registrations, school communications, briefings, reminders and follow-ups

• Work with the School Programs & Partnerships Coordinator to engage participating schools and authorised school representatives

• Help develop challenge guidelines, judging criteria, submission processes and participant resources

• Coordinate judges, speakers, facilitators, volunteers, venues, technology providers and other contributors where required

• Support event logistics for online, hybrid and in-person activities

• Work with the Child Safety & Safeguarding Coordinator to embed child-safe practices, consent processes and appropriate risk controls

• Prepare operational risk assessments, contingency plans and escalation arrangements

• Ensure communications and event materials accurately describe participation expectations, accessibility and intended outcomes

• Maintain organised records of registrations, contacts, approvals, actions and event documentation





• Support event promotion in collaboration with communications and design volunteers

• Gather participant feedback and help evaluate reach, engagement, outcomes and opportunities for improvement

• Prepare post-event summaries and recommendations for future activities

**About you**

We are seeking an organised and dependable volunteer with professional, academic or practical experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Event or project management

• School, youth or community programs

• Competitions, challenges or education initiatives

• Stakeholder and partnership coordination

• Event operations or logistics

• Environmental or sustainability education

Experience coordinating activities involving schools, students, teachers, youth organisations, community groups or multiple external stakeholders will be highly regarded.

You may be an experienced events professional, program coordinator, educator, emerging practitioner, recent graduate or university student with strong relevant capability. You should be able to manage details, communicate professionally, meet deadlines and coordinate several contributors without losing sight of participant safety and program outcomes.

A valid Working with Children Check will be required before undertaking child-related or student-facing duties. Some activities may also require identity checks, reference checks and attendance at agreed locations.

An initial engagement of up to six months is anticipated, requiring approximately three to five hours per week. Workload may increase around scheduled events, and some weekday availability during school hours will be required.

The role will include an organisational induction, regular online planning discussions, independent project coordination and communication with participating schools and contributors. Workload may increase around scheduled events, and some weekday availability during school hours will be required.

** Training **
A comprehensive induction will be provided covering Rethink Australia’s mission, programs, school engagement objectives, planned interschool challenges, organisational structure and internal approval processes. The volunteer will receive access to relevant program concepts, event templates, school communications and planning documents. Guidance will also be provided on child safety, risk management, privacy, consent, appropriate school engagement and escalation procedures.
