About the role

The Estimator / Draftsperson is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and producing clear, coordinated drawings for commercial construction, fit-outs, refurbishments, temporary works and infrastructure projects. The role supports Loumac's tendering, design coordination, and project planning by converting client briefs, site information, and technical documentation into cost plans, quantity take-offs, tender submissions, sketches, layouts, construction drawings, and as-built records. The position works closely with the Managing Director, Construction Manager, Site Supervisors, Compliance Manager, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that proposals and drawing packages are accurate, buildable, commercially sound, and issued on time.

Key responsibilities

- Analyse tender documentation, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, addenda and RFIs to prepare detailed and defensible cost estimates
- Conduct quantity take-offs and develop bills of quantities, cost plans and trade breakdowns using estimating software, Excel and digital measurement tools
- Source, compare and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to confirm scope coverage, exclusions, lead times and competitive pricing
- Prepare and submit tender proposals, including scope clarifications, assumptions, exclusions, risk and opportunity assessments, and supporting technical information
- Identify documentation gaps, inconsistencies, constructability concerns and cost risks, and raise explicit RFIs or recommendations for resolution
- Support project budgets, financial forecasts, procurement planning,



variation pricing and commercial reviews throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare and revise accurate 2D drawings, including site plans, general arrangements, floor plans, elevations, sections, construction details, set-out drawings, temporary works layouts, fit-out drawings and as-built drawings
- Develop drawings from client briefs, consultant information, site measurements, photographs, sketches, mark-ups and existing plans, while clearly recording assumptions and outstanding information
- Coordinate architectural, structural, civil and building services information, identify clashes or discrepancies, and raise RFIs before drawings are issued for construction or pricing
- Maintain drawing registers, file naming conventions, revision control, issue status, transmittals and document archives so current information is readily identifiable

About you

- Minimum 3 years' experience in estimating and/or drafting within the commercial or infrastructure construction sector
- Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Design, Architectural Drafting, Engineering Drafting or a related field (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience preparing,



revising and coordinating 2D technical or construction drawings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent 2D CAD software; experience with Revit, BIM or 3D modelling software is advantageous
- Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Excel and PDF measurement or mark-up software such as Bluebeam Revu or equivalent
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, subcontractor scopes and temporary works requirements
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage concurrent tenders, drawing packages and tight deadlines
- Analytical and spatial thinking with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Collaborative mindset and confident stakeholder engagement across office, site, client and consultant teams
