About the role

Happy Tails Grooming is a busy, growing salon in Canberra's north, built on calm, low-stress grooming and a genuine love of dogs. We're looking for an experienced, hardworking groomer to join our team, someone who wants to be part of a growing salon.

Key responsibilities

- Full range of grooming knowledge: bathing, all basic and breed-specific grooms, de-shedding, and specialty styling.

- Working with a variety of breeds and temperaments, including anxious or reactive dogs.

- Taking a whole-dog approach to grooming, thinking beyond the cut to each dog's comfort, stress levels, and long-term relationship with grooming.

- Helping educate pet parents on coat care, home maintenance, and how to support their dog's comfort with grooming.

- Confident, respectful client communication, including having the harder conversations when a dog's coat condition, behaviour, or health needs require it.

About you

- Minimum 2+ years' professional grooming experience (salon or mobile)

- Hardworking and reliable, someone who pulls their weight and shows up for the team

- Confident handling a wide range of breeds and sizes, including large/strong dogs

- Has a calm, patient approach,



especially with nervous or reactive dogs

- Genuine interest in improving each dog's individual experience, not just technical output

- Comfortable communicating honestly with pet parents, even when it's a difficult conversation, always with the dog's best interest front and centre

- Comfortable operating check-in and check-out procedures

- A team player who wants to contribute to a supportive, calm culture
