About the role
As Chef/Cook, you'll run the kitchen pass, prep and cook to a consistently high standard, and help keep food costs, quality, and safety on track day to day.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to spec, maintaining consistency and presentation
- Manage mise en place and prep lists for opening/service
- Oversee stock rotation, ordering, and supplier relationships alongside management
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP/Food Act compliance)
- Support menu development and seasonal specials
- Train and guide junior kitchen staff
- Manage wastage and portion control to support food cost targets
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant during and after service
About you
- Proven experience as a chef/cook in a café, brunch, or casual dining setting
- Solid grasp of café-style cooking — brunch, breakfast, all-day menu items
- Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong time management under pressure during service
- Team player with a hands-on, positive attitude
- Right to work in Australia
