This is a casual position starting at approximately 16 hours per week, with hours varying according to workload and availability. There is genuine prospect for hours to increase as the business grows and you take on more responsibility.
About the role
BASLink Bookkeeping is a growing Australian bookkeeping practice supporting a diverse range of small and medium-sized businesses. We have an established offshore bookkeeping team and are looking for an experienced Australian-based Senior Bookkeeper / Account Manager to join the practice.
Initially, you will work closely with the Principal while becoming familiar with our clients, systems and processes. Over time, you will progressively take on client communication and management, as well as the quality-control and review function currently undertaken by the Principal.
Providing clients with a consistently high level of service is a priority.
Key responsibilities
- Progressively becoming the primary contact for allocated clients
- Managing client emails, queries and correspondence
- Reviewing bookkeeping completed by our offshore team
- Conducting file audits and reviewing client files for accuracy and completeness
- Preparing and lodging BASs and IASs
- Processing and reviewing payroll, superannuation and STP
- Reviewing management reports
- Entering and reviewing manual journals
- Completing bank reconciliations
- Reviewing balance sheet accounts, including clearing and loan accounts
About you
- 5+ years' Australian bookkeeping experience
- Confident working independently
- Strong Australian bookkeeping knowledge
- Excellent Xero knowledge
- Strong GST, BAS, payroll and superannuation knowledge
- Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Outlook
- Strong understanding of balance sheet accounts, clearing accounts, loan accounts, intercompany accounts and reconciliations
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High integrity, honesty and discretion
- A professional, personable and team-oriented approach, with confidence communicating directly with clients.
Experience with Dext, Hubdoc and XPM is advantageous but not essential.
BAS Agent experience or registration is highly regarded but not essential.
A bookkeeping or accounting qualification is desirable but not essential. Xero certification is advantageous.

We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work, is committed to providing excellent client service and is comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities.
While this is a senior role, there will also be times when you will need to assist with practical bookkeeping or administrative tasks outside your usual responsibilities. A willingness to help where needed and work as part of a team is important.
