Building Manager – Mactaggarts Place, Teneriffe

We are seeking a practical, hands-on and well-organised Building Manager at Mactaggarts Place, a large heritage residential and short-term accommodation complex in Teneriffe.

This is a varied role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a building to a high standard, is physically fit, enjoys working independently and can confidently coordinate contractors, staff and stakeholders. The position includes hands-on cleaning, maintenance, contractor coordination and reporting duties.

Key Responsibilities

- Completing all daily, weekly and monthly cleaning, caretaking and building maintenance duties as prescribed by the Body Corporate

- Maintaining and cleaning common areas, entrances, stairwells, courtyards, pool areas and other facilities to a consistently high standard

- Undertaking and monitoring routine swimming pool maintenance, including basic water testing, cleaning and identifying when specialist servicing is required

- Identifying maintenance issues and carrying out minor repairs and general handyman duties where appropriate

- Obtaining and comparing quotes from specialist trades and contractors

- Coordinating access, supervising contractors and following works through to completion

- Working directly with the Management Rights owners in the day-to-day operation and presentation of the property

- Liaising professionally with key members of the Body Corporate Committee and the Body Corporate Manager

- Maintaining accurate maintenance and caretaking records, including required reporting and liaison with external authorities such as QFES

- Preparing monthly caretaking and maintenance reports for the Body Corporate

- Assisting with the recruitment, onboarding and training of housekeeping team members as our short-term accommodation business grows





- Supporting the housekeeping team when required and helping maintain consistent cleaning and presentation standards across our managed apartments

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

- Physically fit and comfortable in a hands-on role

- Reliable, organised and self-motivated

- Practical and capable of identifying and resolving day-to-day building issues

- Confident dealing with tradespeople, contractors, residents, guests and committee members

- Able to organise works, obtain quotes and manage jobs from identification through to completion

- Comfortable supervising and supporting cleaning and housekeeping staff

- Computer literate, with the ability to use email, spreadsheets and standard office software to prepare reports and maintain records

- A clear and professional communicator, both verbally and in writing

- Able to prioritise multiple tasks and work effectively without constant supervision

- Experienced in building management, facilities management, caretaking, maintenance, hotels, apartment complexes or a similar workplace

Trade, pool maintenance or previous Body Corporate experience would be highly regarded.

About the Role

This is an onsite position based at Mactaggarts Place in Teneriffe, working closely with the Management Rights owners and becoming a key part of the onsite management team.

The property is entering an exciting period of growth as we expand our short-term accommodation operation. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the day-to-day caretaking of the building while also helping us develop a strong housekeeping and maintenance team.

We want someone who sees building management as more than simply completing a checklist — someone who notices what needs doing, communicates effectively, follows issues through and takes genuine pride in the presentation and operation of the property.
