Unique opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to lead our Physiotherapy Clinical Education team.

The Department

The Alfred Care Group Physiotherapy Department has more than 100 EFT and employs over 170 staff. The physiotherapy service has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. It remains strongly committed to further pursuing excellence in physiotherapy through clinical research.

Alfred Care Group’s Physiotherapy Department provides acute physiotherapy services to the patients of The Alfred and Sandringham Hospital and subacute physiotherapy services to Caulfield Hospital. The acute physiotherapy service is organised into five functional streams, namely: Intensive Care, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, PAN (Progressive Illness, Aged Care and Neurosciences), and Sandringham. The first four streams are located at The Alfred site, with the latter being based at the Sandringham site. The physiotherapy service provides acute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: intensive care, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, burns, lung transplantation, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary rehabilitation, neurology and neurosurgery, infectious diseases,



haematology/oncology, general medicine, haemophilia and emergency.

The physiotherapy service at Caulfield Hospital provides an extensive range of inpatient and ambulatory services in the areas of rehabilitation, health of older person and residential care services. The department provides subacute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: neurology, non-traumatic spinal cord injury, orthopaedics, amputees, burns, complex regional pain, cardiac rehabilitation, aged care (Health of Older Person), transitional care and aged psychiatry. The subacute physiotherapy service is organised into four functional streams: Neurological Rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Health of Older Persons (HOP) and ABI.

The Role

The Physiotherapy Clinical Education Lead plays a vital role as the lead in the development and enhancement of the Physiotherapy workforce, fostering a culture of clinical learning and best practice across the continuum of care. This position is responsible for collaboratively identifying education and training needs and strategically designing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality educational programs, and supporting the career growth of Physiotherapists at all levels, including clinicians in specialty and educator roles.

The Physiotherapy Clinical Education Lead is a key member of the physiotherapy leadership group and works closely with clinical teams, stakeholders and those within the leadership group to ensure that education efforts align with organizational goals whilst adhering to best practices and evidence-based approaches.

The Physiotherapy Clinical Education Lead will work with and be professionally accountable to the Allied Health Education Lead for education frameworks, alignment, and ensuring clinical education aligns with agreed professional education practices and priorities across Bayside Health.

Qualifications and Skills Required

- Physiotherapist registered to practice in the state of Victoria (AHPRA)
- Postgraduate qualification (Masters Level or Higher) in relevant field, or be working towards
- Preferable minimum of 10 years of experience, primarily in a hospital setting, as a practicing physiotherapist




- Demonstrated experience in providing high-level teaching, training, and supervision to physiotherapy staff and students
- Evidence of previous involvement in the development and implementation of quality improvement activities
- Proven ability to develop innovative service models and programs in the provision of physiotherapy services
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date, evidence-based clinical knowledge through research and collaboration with tertiary institutions
- Applied knowledge of multi-modal design, implementation and evaluation of single discipline or interprofessional education models
- Applied knowledge of programme development supporting the competence, capability and capacity of Physiotherapists
- Demonstrated experience in leading change initiatives and/or project management
