The Role

A local government council is seeking a Freedom of Information & Legal Support Officer to join their team. In this role, you will process Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, assist with legal procedures, and provide essential legal support within a government context. This is a 6 month contract with a potential to extend.

Responsibilities
Act as the FOI Officer, process requests, and maintain FOI registers.
Provide administrative support to the Legal Services Team, including answering subpoenas and preparing staff for court appearances.
Manage time effectively, setting priorities, planning,



and organising your own work to meet deadlines.
Assist in preparing legal documents across various jurisdictions, such as subpoenas, affidavits, and consent orders.

About You
Proven experience with FOI requests in a government context and understanding of privacy law.
Computer skills, knowledge of Windows-based applications and databases, and ability to manage time and tasks independently.
Tertiary qualification in legal administration or substantial experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
