Job Description
This exciting role is for an inaugural Registrar to the newly formed Gastroenterology Unit at Werribee Mercy Hospital, comprising of 9 Gastroenterologists.
The position will be:
* Fixed-Term Full time for 1 year at Werribee Mercy Hospital in the Gastroenterology Department.
* Primary focus: Care of gastroenterology inpatients (usually 4-5 at any one time) in a multidisciplinary sense, taking referrals from and providing consultation during hours for Gastroenterology/liver problems to other hospital units and ED and attendance at outpatients in General Gastroenterology (with the possibility of SVH run subspecialty IBD and liver clinics).
* Opportunities for training in endoscopy.
* Assistance with peri-endoscopy clinical care alongside endoscopy liaison nurses and in the outpatient setting alongside Outpatient ANUMs.
* Preparation for and presentation at Unit Radiology and Pathology meetings and ward inpatient and endoscopy audits.
* Presentation at Unit Journal clubs and other educational meetings.
* Contribution to the unit's research output including through quality assurance activities and other projects prepared for publication purpose.
* Contribution to teaching including of Junior medical staff as well as Notre Dame University Medical students.

About the Candidate
* MBBS (or equivalent) with General AHPRA registration with FRACP first part written and clinical examination or equivalent.
* Demonstrated time management, organisational, clinical and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
* Adaptability and willingness to help to grow and develop the unit.
* Enthusiastic, motivated, committed, team player who is willing to contribute and be responsive to other needs within the hospital.
* A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
* The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
* A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
* Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
