Water Polo WA overview
Water Polo WA (WPWA) is the governing body for the sport of water polo in Western Australia and is a member of Water Polo Australia (WPA). WPWA's mission is to advance water polo across the state, support elite talent development and make it WA's most enjoyable team sport.
This is an exciting time for the sport here in WA, following the conclusion of the Whole of Sport review and what will be the implementation of recommendations and a current strategic plan for the water polo.
Position Overview
The
Competitions & Events Manager
is to be responsible for the planning, organising and delivery of Water Polo WA's senior and junior competitions as well as the delivery of other key events across the State to the highest standard. A strong focus will be to enforce WPWA's commitment to enhancing water polo services and positive experiences for all stakeholders through our competitions and events.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, lead and deliver WA's water polo competitions and events
Plan seasonal calendars and fixtures in liaison with Clubs and consultants
Manage team entries & gradings in line with Competition Rules
Manage competition logistics, administration, procurement and equipment requirements
Ensure appointment of referees and officials to competitions and events with support of WPWA staff
Enhance membership and participation growth
Coordinate and manage the judiciary and sanctioning across competitions and events in line with the National Sanctioning Policy
Manage/support technology systems supporting membership and competition delivery
Act as a point of contact for Club Delegates and stakeholders on operational matters related to competitions
Manage and coordinate evaluations of competitions and events to support ongoing improvements
Support the delivery of Regional events in consultation with Regional Associations/Clubs
Effective budget & resource management including pool bookings
Ensure competitions and events comply with relevant regulations and standards within the industry
Provide regular reporting on performance metrics and results
Administer Competition Advisory Group
Ability to operate in out of business hours and weekends
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills, Experience & Attributes
Experience in competition and/or event structures and delivery
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Familiarity with competition management systems
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Management experience
High level of integrity
Proven leadership capability and demonstrated experience leading a team
Excellent communication skills and ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Current WA Working with Children Check
C-Class Drivers Licence
Adhere to privacy and confidentiality procedures and other policies as set by Water Polo WA
Desirable
Tertiary qualification in event management, sports business or similar.
Background in event coordination or program logistics
Experience in database management and online learning platforms
Experience in water polo
Skilled in Microsoft Office software
Hours
40 hours per week
This position may require hours outside of normal business hours, including weekends and evenings on occasion
Attendance at pre-determined Water Polo WA events and activities is expected
Employees will be offered time in lieu in line with Water Polo WA policies
