About The Role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced HV Technician Protection Relay or Electrical Field Engineer to join our high‐performing team.
You will be responsible for the testing, commissioning, fault finding, and maintenance of high‐voltage and protection systems across a variety of sites.
This role suits a technically strong skilled who is safety‐focused and enjoys working in live and critical environments.
You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure protection systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning, testing and maintenance of HV protection systems and schemes, including experience with IEC ***** and GOOSE communications
Testing and commissioning of HV substations, including both secondary systems and primary plant
Commissioning and maintenance of HV and LV plant and assets
Testing and commissioning of power generation systems and power transformers
Providing technical leadership, mentoring and training to technicians
Preparation of commissioning and testing documentation, protection test plans, and detailed technical reports upon completion of projects
About You

Essential Requirements




Hold a current "A Grade" Electrical Workers Licence (Fitter and Mechanic)
Minimum five years' experience in high‐voltage electrical environments
Proven experience using the Omicron suite of equipment for secondary system testing
Strong understanding of Australian and relevant international standards
Knowledge of applicable legislation, policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to deliver works in line with project quality, schedule and budget requirements
Strong commitment to safety, professionalism and effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
Proficient in Omicron and Doble test equipment
Desirable Requirements
Engineering Degree or Diploma in Power Systems.
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) well regarded
HV Switching authorisation well regarded
Experience with IEC ***** and GOOSE messaging, including use of IED Scout
Power station experience
Commissioning and maintenance of HV and LV plant and assets
Testing and commissioning of power generation systems and transformers
Technical supervision experience, mentoring and training of technicians
Experience preparing commissioning and testing documentation, protection test plans, and detailed technical reports at project completion
