The Opportunity

This is the seat where audit training turns into real ownership. You'll sit across the full P&L;, balance sheet, and cash position of our ShopBack Pay entities — not reviewing someone else's numbers, but owning them, defending them in front of country leadership, and ensuring we're driving audit at world class level.
We're building this seat for people at very different starting points: a 2nd or 3rd-year senior associate from Big 4 looking for the opportunity to grow on the commercial side; an assistant manager wanting broader ownership; or someone with a few years in a GL / month-end reporting seat who wants more. What matters more than your exact title today is that you can clear an audit, you're relentless on detail, and you want the accountability that comes after the sign-off.
What You'll Own

Financial Reporting & Analysis
Own the full month-end close and reporting pack across multiple entities — balance sheet, P&L;, and cashflow — on a hard deadline, every month
Lead flux analysis that doesn't just report the variance but explains why — the same rigor as a deal memo, applied to a live P&L;
Build the MoM and actuals-vs-budget narrative that leadership actually uses to make calls
Navigate the technical complexity of bridging local GAAP with IFRS across markets
Own the cash position for your entities — real accountability for whether the business has the runway it needs

Be the connective tissue between Treasury, Group Reporting, and the SSC — driving the process, not just feeding it

Statutory Audit & Tax Compliance
Lead statutory audits end-to-end for your entities — external auditors, corporate secretary, deadlines, all on you
Own and apply MAS regulatory requirements relevant to our ShopBack Pay entity, working closely with Legal and Compliance
Own compliance across direct and indirect taxes across markets, in partnership with tax advisors

Business Partnering
Drive the actuals-vs-budget conversation and lead the deep-dive when the variance is material
Advise Tax, Legal, Compliance, and Product on the accounting and tax mechanics behind new country and product launches — you're in the room before the launch happens, not cleaning up after
Essentials to Succeed

Audit experience is a must — Big 4 or equivalent, with hands-on experience clearing statutory audits end-to-end
Bachelor's in Accountancy and/or Finance, or advanced degrees (Masters' or PhD) in any analytical field
Open across levels: 2nd/3rd-year senior associate ready to step up; assistant manager level; or 4–5 years in a GL role with solid month-end reporting exposure
Working knowledge of MAS requirements as they apply to payment entities (e.g. ShopBack Pay) is required
Commercial accounting experience is a plus — not a requirement
Meticulous and detail-oriented — nothing slips past you in a reconciliation, schedule, or variance
Sharp, confident communicator, comfortable presenting numbers to stakeholders
Thrives under deadline pressure, comfortable with ambiguity, high ownership, high integrity
AI Fluent: Demonstrated use of AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) to build workflows, sharpen analysis, and move 3x faster at scale in a work setting.
ShopBacker Traits

Agency- We take ownership and act, rather than waiting for permission. When something's blocking progress,

we find a way through it and follow through until it's done.
Judgement- We aim for high-impact decisions, not just easy wins, and we put the bigger picture ahead of individual interests. That means moving quickly and confidently, while staying thoughtful about when a call really matters.
Learning Velocity- We pick up new skills fast and let go of old habits just as quickly when something better comes along. We benchmark ourselves against the best and keep raising our own bar.
Tenacity- We stay in it when things get hard, keeping a level head under pressure. We debate openly before deciding, then commit fully — and support each other along the way.
