Looking to start your career in community services, mental health, or alcohol and other drug (AoD) support? This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, make a real difference, and build a rewarding career while living and working in a vibrant rural community.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) is seeking a motivated and community-minded Community Engagement Worker / Administrator to join our growing Mental Health & AoD team in Lightning Ridge.
Supported by significant funding to expand services across the local community, this role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who is passionate about helping people and creating positive change. You'll be supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team who will help you develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the role.
Key Responsibilities

Help increase awareness of available support services across the region.
Work alongside Mental Health Clinicians and other team members to support positive outcomes for individuals and families.
Contribute to stakeholder meetings and community networking opportunities.
Assist with administration, reporting, and programme coordination activities.
Identify opportunities to better support community needs and engagement.
About You
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, eager to learn, and passionate about supporting rural and remote communities.
You may be a recent graduate, currently studying, or looking to take the next step into the community services, health, or wellbeing sector.
We'd Love to Hear From You If You Have:
A qualification in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Health, or a related field, or are currently studying towards one. (Certificate III qualifications and students are encouraged to apply.)

A genuine interest in supporting people and improving community wellbeing.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.
Good organisational and administrative skills.
A willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to a supportive team environment.
A current Driver's Licence and Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Why Join RFDS?
Entry-level opportunity with on-the-job learning and support.
Work alongside experienced Mental Health and AoD professionals.
Build valuable experience in community services, health, and wellbeing.
Make a real impact in a close-knit rural community.
Enjoy a diverse role where no two days are the same.
Be part of a respected organisation committed to improving health outcomes across rural and remote Australia.
Develop skills and experience that can open doors to future career opportunities.
