About the Role
Canterbury Hospital is committed to delivering high-quality, patient- and family-centred healthcare to the local community. Since opening in ****, the hospital has continued to evolve to meet the changing needs of the community through cutting-edge models of care.
The Canterbury Antenatal Postnatal Service (CAPS) provides a Midwifery continuity of care model, offering women outpatient antenatal and postnatal care by a known (primary) Midwife up to 6 weeks postnatally. All inpatient care is provided by the hospital maternity team. This model is suitable for women with all levels of pregnancy risk, with Midwives collaborating across the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care. The CAPS Midwives work under a buddy system to support 7 day a week coverage across their caseloads.
The Registered Midwife is responsible for the provision of woman centred; evidence- based midwifery care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Midwife will assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
Ideal Candidate




Current midwifery registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
Demonstrated understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
Demonstrated commitment to person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
Ability to work on a 7 day rotating roster, including full weekends.
