Koorburra House is seeking dedicated and compassionate
Youth Workers
to join our team on a
casual basis - 24 hours plus
. Based in Caboolture, QLD, this role offers the flexibility of casual work whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and their families. As a Youth Worker, you will be at the forefront of our child welfare and residential home services, providing support, guidance and mentoring to vulnerable young people navigating complex life circumstances. This position is instrumental in helping us deliver our mission to support young people in achieving positive outcomes and building resilience.
What you'll be doing
Developing and maintaining supportive relationships with young people, providing emotional support and practical guidance. Helping our young people learn valuable life skills while being raised in a residential setting.
Delivering evidence-based care and interventions tailored to address the individual needs of young people
Assisting young people to identify and work towards personal goals and aspirations
Facilitating community engagement opportunities that promote positive youth development
Collaborating with families, schools, social workers and other stakeholders to ensure holistic support for young people
Maintaining detailed and accurate records of all work undertaken, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and statutory requirements
Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns in accordance with child protection protocols
Contributing to the planning and review of support plans for young people in our care
Participating in team meetings and professional development activities
Supporting crisis intervention and de-escalation when required
What we're looking for
Relevant qualifications in youth work, social work, community services, psychology or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience working with young people
Ability to complete at least 1 x sleepover shift per week.
Current knowledge of child protection and safeguarding legislation and best practice in youth work
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within a casual framework whilst maintaining professional standards
A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to working with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people
Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively about solutions to support young people's wellbeing
Reliable transport and willingness to work across various locations within the Caboolture area
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Experience in trauma-informed practice or de-escalation techniques is desirable
Understanding of cultural diversity and ability to work respectfully with young people from different cultural backgrounds
