Armidale Montessori Preschool is seeking an experienced and passionate
Child Care
Worker -Group Leader
to join our Exceeding-rated, Montessori preschool.
This position combines hands-on education and care of children with responsibility for supporting the day-to-day operation of our preschool classroom. Working collaboratively with the Centre Director and educational team, you will play a key role in delivering our specialised Montessori program while supporting the learning, wellbeing and development of children aged 2–6 years.
About the Role
As the Child Care Worker – Group Leader you will:
Provide high-quality education and care for children in accordance with the Montessori philosophy, the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Framework.
Design engaging, child-led learning experiences that promote independence and holistic development.
Supervise, engage and interact with children through meaningful learning experiences that support their individual development.
Assist children with daily routines, including meals, personal care, rest and transitions throughout the day.
Observe children's learning and development and contribute to documentation and individual learning plans.
Prepare, maintain and present Montessori learning materials and ensure the classroom environment remains safe, organised and engaging.
Foster children's independence, confidence, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
Build positive relationships with children,



families and colleagues through respectful and professional communication.
Support and mentor educators working within the preschool room and assist with the coordination of daily routines.
Undertake curriculum planning, reflective practice and continuous quality improvement.
Ensure compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, Child Safe Standards and service policies and procedures.
Applicants must have:
Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or a higher approved early childhood qualification.
Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating an early childhood classroom.
Current NSW Working With Children Check.
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills.
A sound understanding of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework and Child Safe Standards.
A genuine passion for providing high-quality early childhood education.
Experience in a Montessori setting or recognised Montessori training or qualification is strongly preferred.




Demonstrated experience leading a Montessori classroom.
Experience mentoring or supporting educators.
Knowledge of Early Works (or similar documentation platforms).
Experience supporting children with additional needs.
Experience supporting children from diverse nationalities.
