We are seeking an experienced
Advisor – Right to Information
to join a Queensland Government team on a 4-month contract, commencing as soon as possible.
This role will see you managing a complex caseload of access and amendment applications under the Right to Information Act **** (Qld), ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and prescribed timeframes. You will provide high-level advice on legislative interpretation, administrative decision-making and disclosure requirements, supporting transparent and accountable public sector practices.
Key Responsibilities
Process complex RTI access and amendment applications in accordance with statutory requirements
Draft detailed decision notices and prepare submissions for matters under external review
Provide accurate and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding legislative obligations and compliance
Interpret and apply legislation,



subordinate instruments and relevant case law
Conduct research on statutory interpretation and emerging RTI best practice
Liaise with business units to identify, review, collate and appropriately redact responsive documentation
Maintain legislative records and contribute to publication scheme and disclosure log requirements
Provide clear, concise and well-reasoned written materials tailored to varied audiences
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Proven experience processing RTI applications within a government or statutory setting
Strong understanding of statutory interpretation principles and administrative decision-making
Advanced drafting capability, including complex notices, briefs and formal correspondence
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement
Effective stakeholder engagement and case management capability
