Compliance, Quality & Safety Administrator — Entry Level
Compliance, Quality & Safety Administrator — Entry Level
Dunsteel Engineering | Moss Vale, NSW
We're a structural steel fabrication and installation business based in Moss Vale, working on commercial projects across Sydney. Our steel goes into buildings you'd recognize — data centres, warehouses, commercial towers.
We're certified to:
ISO ****
— Quality Management
ISO *****
— Environmental Management
ISO *****
— Occupational Health & Safety
AS/NZS **** CC3
— the highest construction category in the Australian standard for steel structures
Getting there was the hard part. Keeping it is the job. Certification isn't a certificate on a wall — it's audited, and everything behind it has to be current, complete and evidenced. That's what this role is for.
The role
You'll work under the direction of our Compliance Coordinator, maintaining systems that are already built and documented. You won't be asked to design procedures or work out what a standard requires — you'll be shown what good looks like, and then you keep it that way.
Day to day:
Maintaining registers — welder qualifications, plant and equipment, calibration records, consumable certificates
Filing and tracking material test certificates and traceability records
Compiling inspection and test plans, weld records and manufacturer's data reports into project handover packs
Keeping safety documentation current — SWMS, site inductions, toolbox talk records, incident and hazard reports
Legwork on the safety side: chasing outstanding inductions and licences, following up actions after incidents and inspections, helping prepare for site and workshop safety walks

Environmental records — waste, spill and consumption tracking against our ISO ***** obligations
Chasing missing paperwork from project managers, suppliers and subcontractors, and following it through until it's closed out
Preparing files and evidence ahead of surveillance audits
General administrative support across the compliance, quality and safety function
What we're actually looking for
Not experience. Attitude and attention to detail.
The right person is organised, notices when something doesn't add up, and is comfortable picking up the phone to chase a certificate that hasn't turned up — and then chasing it again a week later. A lot of this job is politely refusing to let things slide.
You'll need:
Solid written and verbal communication
Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook (we'll teach you the rest)
The ability to manage your own workload and keep track of a lot of moving parts
A driver's licence and your own transport
Australian working rights
Nice to have, but not required:
Some exposure to construction, manufacturing or engineering
Certificate in business administration, WHS or quality
Document control or records management experience
If you've just finished school or a certificate and you're after a first proper role, we want to hear from you.

If you've been doing admin elsewhere and want to move into quality, compliance or safety, that works too.
Where this can lead — if you want it
We're being upfront: this role starts as administration. But the person doing it sits inside four certified management systems every single day, and that's a rare place to learn from.
If you want to build on it, we'll back you:
Training paid for
— internal auditor courses, Cert IV in WHS or Quality Auditing, whatever fits the direction you take
Exposure to real audits
— you'll be in the room for surveillance audits, not just preparing for them
A defined step up
— this role can grow into Quality Coordinator, Compliance Coordinator or WHS Advisor as your knowledge builds
A business that's growing
— more projects, more systems, more scope. There's room to grow into rather than a queue to wait in
And if you'd rather stay in a well-run administration role and do it properly, that's genuinely fine too. We'd rather you tell us what you want than guess.
What else you'll get
Permanent full time position based at our Moss Vale facility
An easy commute from Bowral, Mittagong, Bundanoon, Goulburn or the Illawarra
Direct training from people who know the standards inside out
Real exposure to how a fabrication business runs — engineering, workshop, site and project management
A team that will back you in and answer your questions
Be careful - Don't provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs. Don't transfer any money or complete suspicious online surveys. If you see something suspicious, report this job ad .
