About Forensicare
Forensicare is Victoria's specialist provider of forensic mental health services. We deliver recovery-focused care for people living with serious mental illness who are connected to, or at risk of contact with, the justice system.
Working across secure inpatient, prison and community settings, our services support recovery, rehabilitation and community reintegration while promoting safety, human rights and person-centred care.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker (AHP3) to join our multidisciplinary team at Thomas Embling Hospital.
As Thomas Embling Hospital continues to expand, this role forms part of a growing Social Work workforce, with further ongoing Social Work vacancies anticipated across the hospital.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality social work services that support recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and rights-based care. You will undertake psychosocial and criminogenic assessments, contribute to care and risk management planning, and provide specialist interventions to consumers and their families/carers.
You will play a key role in advocating for consumer rights, facilitating access to community supports and services, and contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives. The role provides the prospect to influence positive outcomes for consumers within a unique and rewarding forensic mental health environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver recovery-focused social work interventions within a forensic mental health setting.
Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and criminogenic assessments.
Contribute to interdisciplinary treatment, care and risk management planning.




Support discharge planning and community reintegration pathways.
Provide advocacy and psychosocial support to consumers and families/carers.
Facilitate access to social welfare, disability and community support services, including NDIS.
Identify and respond to family violence risk in accordance with MARAM principles.
Contribute to quality improvement, service development and research activities.
Maintain high-quality clinical documentation and participate in safe care practices.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
A tertiary qualification in Social Work.
Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Experience conducting psychosocial assessments and developing care plans.
Strong understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and rights-based practice.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of family violence risk assessment and response frameworks, including MARAM.
Excellent communication, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills.
A commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
