About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Executive Management Team, the Director Corporate & Community Services will provide strategic and operational leadership across corporate services, governance, finance, people and culture, customer experience, risk, work health and safety, community development and economic development.
This is a key executive role with whole-of-organisation influence. The Director will provide high-level advice to the CEO, Elected Members and senior leaders, while ensuring the portfolio remains well governed, financially sustainable, customer-focused and aligned to Council's strategic priorities.
The role will suit a commercially astute, contemporary leader who can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will support a capable and well-performing team, providing the consolidation, direction and leadership needed to build on existing strengths, lift performance and continue improving services for the community.
What you will do
Lead the Corporate and Community Services portfolio to deliver responsive, sustainable and high-quality services




Provide strategic and commercially sound advice to the CEO, Elected Members and Executive Management Team
Oversee governance, compliance, policy, risk and organisational accountability frameworks
Lead financial management, corporate planning, budgeting, reporting and resource allocation
Strengthen commercial discipline, financial accountability and performance across the portfolio
Lead people and culture, workforce planning, industrial relations and enterprise bargaining functions
Consolidate and support a capable team, building clarity, confidence, accountability and alignment
Strengthen organisational capability, customer experience and continuous improvement
Support proactive work health and safety practices, including psychological safety and respectful workplace obligations
Lead community development initiatives that support wellbeing, participation and resilience
Facilitate economic development through partnerships, advocacy and delivery of Council priorities
Build productive relationships with staff, Elected Members, community organisations, businesses, government agencies and regional stakeholders
What we are looking for
Proven senior leadership experience across corporate services, governance, finance, community services, people and culture or a related discipline




Demonstrated commercial acumen, with the ability to strengthen financial performance, resource planning and organisational sustainability
Strong strategic thinking and the ability to lead across a broad executive portfolio
Sound knowledge of governance, compliance, risk and financial management
Experience leading people, culture, workforce planning and industrial relations matters
The ability to consolidate, guide and develop a capable team within a positive and accountable culture
Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
Confidence operating in a politically sensitive or government environment
A practical, team-oriented and values-driven leadership style
Demonstrated ability to lead improvement and build organisational capability
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, management, public administration, human resources, local government, community development or a related field
Experience in regional or local government will be highly regarded
