As we launch our exciting current breakfast offering, we're looking for an experienced
Breakfast Sous Chef
to help build a breakfast destination that locals and visitors will return to week after week.
Working alongside our Head Chef, you'll have genuine input into menus, systems and kitchen culture while leading a small breakfast team and setting the standard for every morning service.

About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and motivated
Breakfast Sous Chef
with
2–5 years' experience




in a leadership role to work alongside our Head Chef and lead our morning kitchen operation.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who enjoys quality produce, fast-paced service, team development and building strong kitchen systems.
You'll lead a team of up to five breakfast chefs while helping establish Buds Tavern as one of the South Coast's premier breakfast venues.
Key Responsibilities
Lead breakfast preparation and service to the highest standard.
Support the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen.
Supervise, train and develop a team of up to five breakfast chefs.
Assist with menu development, seasonal updates and breakfast specials.
Ensure consistency, quality and presentation across every dish.
Manage ordering, stock control, stock rotation and wastage.
Maintain exceptional food safety, cleanliness and kitchen systems.
Ensure prep and service readiness for breakfast and support the wider kitchen operation where required.
Help build a positive, professional and high-performing kitchen culture.
We're Looking For Someone Who
Has
2–5 years' experience as a Sous Chef
in a professional kitchen.
Has strong breakfast experience, with a passion for modern Australian breakfast and brunch.
Leads confidently by example and enjoys mentoring junior chefs.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm,



organised and solutions-focused.
Takes pride in producing consistently high-quality food.
Has excellent knowledge of food safety, ordering, stock control and kitchen systems.
Has strong communication and organisational skills.
Wants to build a long-term career with a growing hospitality business.
