We are seeking an experienced Operations Controller to support our Finance function by strengthening inventory control, operational processes and costing accuracy across warehouse, production and purchasing activities.
This role is highly operational and requires a strong floor presence. You will divide your time between the Finance function and operational environment working alongside warehouse, production, purchasing and engineering teams to identify issues early, improve stock accuracy, strengthen process compliance and ensure inventory information is accurate and reliable.
Key Responsibilities
Operational support.
Act as the key Finance contact for warehouse and production teams on stock, inventory and process-related issues.
Floor presence.
Maintain an active floor presence, monitoring stock movements, receipting and materials handling while resolving discrepancies at the source.
Inventory control.
Own the cycle counting program and investigate stock variances, write-ons, write-offs and inventory discrepancies.
Reconciliation and valuation.
Reconcile inventory balances to the general ledger and support accurate stock valuation and month-end reporting.
Supply continuity.




Monitor stock levels, reorder points, safety stock, slow-moving, obsolete and excess inventory to prevent production disruption and stockouts.
Process governance.
Maintain and improve inventory control procedures covering receiving, issuing, returns, stock movements and adjustments, and conduct operational audits against them.
System compliance.
Monitor ERP transaction accuracy and reinforce compliance with established inventory and financial controls.
Reporting and analysis.
Provide weekly and monthly reporting on stock accuracy, variances, shortages, write-offs and operational performance.
Month-end and audit.
Support month-end close, stocktakes and audits, including reconciliations, journals and inventory provisions.
Costing accuracy.
Analyse production downtime and costing variances associated with material shortages, work orders and inaccurate BOM data, working with Production, Engineering, Purchasing Warehouse to resolve source.
Continuous improvement.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce shortages, improve inventory accuracy and strengthen ERP and materials management practices.
Capability building.
Coach operational teams on inventory controls, system processes and required standards.
About You
You are commercially minded, analytical and comfortable working equally across the Finance function and operational setting.



You bring strong inventory and process control skills, confidence investigating discrepancies and the ability to work collaboratively with warehouse, production, purchasing, engineering and finance teams.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in an operations finance, cost accounting, or similar role.
Experience within a manufacturing or inventory-intensive environment.
Demonstrated experience investigating stock variances, costing discrepancies and operational process issues.
Good understanding of general ledger reconciliations, month-end processes and inventory accounting principles.
Advanced computer skills and experience using ERP systems, with the ability to analyse and interpret operational and financial data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, root-cause-focused approach.
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and process compliance.
Confident communicator who can build effective working relationships.
Comfortable working hands-on in an operational environment and addressing issues directly with relevant teams.
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement, follow through on corrective actions and reinforce operational standards.
